How to use your credit card 1

Posted on April 03, 2012 by FinanceX

The use of credit cards is bashed by almost all financial advisors because a typical credit card charges a very high interest rate in case payments are not made by the due dates. This is true since APRs on credit cards can go up to 20% which is prohibitively expensive. But then again, advisors say that the key to maintaining an excellent credit score is credit card debt. So, what gives? Are they confused?

Certainly not. The key is to use the credit card but avoid paying interest on it by repaying the company by the due date. This will ensure that no extra charges are levied and that the credit agencies have ample evidence to conclude that you can take a loan on the credit card and pay it back. This demonstrates your commitment to repay and maintain your credit score.

Hence, discipline is key in these matters. It is also beneficial if you stick to not more than two credit cards and have them set up on direct deposits with your current accounts.
